From April 22 to 25, the 5th International Poetry Festival “Page Break” takes place in Riga. This year’s theme evolves around peace in its various expressions and contexts. Annual festival brings together internationally recognised poets from different countries, introducing current trends in contemporary poetry.
On April 23 at 13, a roundtable discussion will be held at Berga Bazārs, next to the premises of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office. Discussions will also take place in other locations across the city, and international guests will visit schools and conduct workshops for young people.
Traditionally, Nordic poets also participate in the festival. On April 23 poetry readings in Splendid Palace will start at 19, featuring Niels Hav (Denmark), Elizabete Duvala (Spain), Alessandro Mistrorigo (Italy), Anna Julian Mendlik (Germany), Rachel DeVoskin (USA), as well as Latvian poets Elvīra Bloma and Ilmārs Šlāpins.
On April 24, readings will be held by the second group of poets: Anna Hallberg (Sweden), Cuban poet Víctor Rodríguez Núñez (based in the USA), Aleš Šteger (Slovenia), Ivan Hristov (Bulgaria), Linda Maria Baros (France), Turkish poet Efe Duyan (based in Latvia), along with Latvian authors Ērika Bērziņa and Arvis Viguls.
On April 25 at 19, the festival will conclude with the “Poetry Concert – Gala Event” in the Great Hall of Splendid Palace. It will feature all festival participants and the improvisation quartet “Page Breakers”.
Festival is free of charge, with invitations – available at “Biļešu paradīze” here.
